There is a reason why Tijs Michiel Verwest, best known as Tiësto, is widely regarded as a global dance music icon. He has numerous achievements to his credit, including a Grammy award won in 2015 as well as the honor of performing at the opening ceremonies of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. With millions of followers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, Tiësto has built up a massively loyal fanbase as well. His “Club Life” radio show and podcast is also one of the most listened and subscribed to dance music programs in the entire world. Born in the small town of Breda located in the southern part of the Netherlands, Tiësto’s career beginnings trace back to the dance subgenre of trance. He released his first solo album in 2001 titled “In My Memory”, which featured original productions and club anthems mixed with commercial appeal. He followed that up with a handful of records throughout the 2000s including “Just Be” (2004), “Elements of Life” (2007) and in “Kaleidoscope” (2009). In 2014, Tiësto released his fifth studio album, “A Town Called Paradise”, which was inspired by the city of Las Vegas. The album featured some of the most pop-infused productions of his career and included two Gold certified singles by the RIAA in “Wasted” and “Red Lights”.
